A Good Ride Causes Me to Reflect How the Trails Got There

I don't know why I didn't start mountain biking sooner than a couple of months ago.  The fun and the satisfaction of each ride is such an awesome relief that I can't wait to ride again.  The trails on the Sunshine Coast are so diverse and numerous that you could ride all day and not ride on one single trail twice.  However, there are trails that I exclaim "Let do that again!". I have to pause sometimes during my rides to ask the question, who were the harden few to build these trails?  We know of the modern trailbuilders like Brad Proctor, Glen Ellingsworth, Cap University guys, Rod Camposano, and Guy Bullen.  Also the numerous others that built a couple of trails and add those to chain of trails that we call "Sunshine Coast trail riding".  We're they the first? Testing out the Cove-Lynskey 650B Ti Prototype

The new Pro29 from Lynskey has just come out via Cove bikes in North Vancouver, BC.  The Cove-Lynskey relationship has been a successful one with Cove's Hummer line of bikes over the last 5 years.  Cove has again turned to Lynskey to help with a possible new Hummer design in a full suspension 650B or 29'er variety.   Taking back users comments, Cove will tweak this model here and there and launch a Cove version of Pro29 - Hummer.  When I was offered the opportunity to test this bike on the Sunshine Coast, I jump at the chance to put it through the paces.  From when I first started riding and racing mountain bikes in mid 1990's, I've always wanted a titanium bike.  I've considered buying the Cove Hummer on many occasions.  I've been also lucky to try out other Cove bikes such as the Hummer Softail, Hustler, and now I own their new G-Spot All Mountain Rig. This Year's Goal is....To Ride

Its a pretty simple goal and a bit of cop-out.  Everyone needs goals to strive or reach for.  They make us better riders in skills or in fitness.  Over the last couple of years, I've chosen Granfondo's, races and other self imposed events to help me keep motivated to do better.  At the end of season, I get burnt out and it takes all winter to get back the motivation to ride.  This year will be different for me.  Cycling is passion for me and to fuel that passion is to ride - ride with friends, ride different areas and trails and ride for life.  This goal keeps me motivated like you cannot imagine and I feel that it will help me enjoy cycling. Over the last couple of months, I've in touch with old friends and met new ones.  I've been to areas like Squamish and thoroughly enjoyed those trails giving me a whole new set of skills and knowledge.  For me, this year is to ride smart (not dumb and get hurt) and to ride for me.  Plus I have oth...
