It's Time for a Change - Blogspot to Wordpress


I've been struggling lately in deciding to keep updating my blog on a regular basis. It's not the best blog and I only have one follower (my wife and I signed her up!). Originally it was a place to share my thoughts on where to ride a road bike on the Sunshine Coast of BC. Then, it starting documenting my trips and my thoughts as I rode the pavement endlessly spinning and almost completely bored. Sure, Strava increased my enthusiasm, but eventually my soul found center right on top of my ultimate passion of mountain biking and now trail building. This blog was the first step of the 1000 mile journey and it's now come to its journey's end. In the next while, I'll be starting a new website on a Wordpress.  Special features will be to document my trail building endevours and maybe to interview other trailbuilders on why they love trailbuilding. Of course, it will continue to help document my life journey, thoughts and goals from 2016 onward. Stay tuned as the new blog launches with whole bunch of redirects.

The new Pro29 from Lynskey has just come out via Cove bikes in North Vancouver, BC.  The Cove-Lynskey relationship has been a successful one with Cove's Hummer line of bikes over the last 5 years.  Cove has again turned to Lynskey to help with a possible new Hummer design in a full suspension 650B or 29'er variety.   Taking back users comments, Cove will tweak this model here and there and launch a Cove version of Pro29 - Hummer.  When I was offered the opportunity to test this bike on the Sunshine Coast, I jump at the chance to put it through the paces.  From when I first started riding and racing mountain bikes in mid 1990's, I've always wanted a titanium bike.  I've considered buying the Cove Hummer on many occasions.  I've been also lucky to try out other Cove bikes such as the Hummer Softail, Hustler, and now I own their new G-Spot All Mountain Rig. Testing the Lynskey Pro29 FS-120 Part 2

Last year in January 2013, I reviewed a Lynskey Pro29 FS- 120 with 650B wheels -  At the time, Cove Bikes evaluating a new design for a 650B bike and a full suspension frame from Lynskey was sent out for review.  The bike - a FS Pro 29 frameset was built up.  The issue Cove had was that with the new thinking of low bottom bracket heights and slack geometry, the FS was modified to fit this thinking.  The bottom bracket height of the FS was close to 15" unweighted.  and Cove decided to put on a 140mm fork and 650B wheels - lowering the bike's overall center of gravity and slacking the angles.  The ride that was produced was a stable but require more steering input into the steering either by leaning or steering into the corners.  I didn't mind the ride but felt uncomfortable when speed started to pick up.  Check out my first review of the bike Testing out cove lynskey 650b-ti Cove ended up sticking with their tried and true hardtail model ( Cove Hummer 650Bj ) and from the

Give Me Something Simple in My Mid-Life Crisis

Life is complicated. Simply put. I don't yearn for the days of a simple lifestyle as I get older because I like the rewards of having an complicated lifestyle... Its hard to put that into words, but for some things I do wish for less complicated things to keep me happy.   Take cycling for example; I ride both road and mountain bikes - I like riding on the road, its simple, my mind can drift off and I can enjoy the view (when not on a busy road).  I like when its done, it's clean, clothes aren't muddy and bike is put away dry and as new as the day I got it.  But riding on the road is boring, and if I didn't have music, I would be falling asleep at 50 km into the ride. I also like mountain biking, the trails keeps me concentrated on my balance, my skills and on the flow.  But my mind can't drift and to be set into auto pilot to solve work or life problems.  50km into a mountain bike ride, I AM EXHAUSTED.
