A Good Ride Causes Me to Reflect How the Trails Got There

I don't know why I didn't start mountain biking sooner than a couple of months ago.  The fun and the satisfaction of each ride is such an awesome relief that I can't wait to ride again.  The trails on the Sunshine Coast are so diverse and numerous that you could ride all day and not ride on one single trail twice.  However, there are trails that I exclaim "Let do that again!". I have to pause sometimes during my rides to ask the question, who were the harden few to build these trails?  We know of the modern trailbuilders like Brad Proctor, Glen Ellingsworth, Cap University guys, Rod Camposano, and Guy Bullen.  Also the numerous others that built a couple of trails and add those to chain of trails that we call "Sunshine Coast trail riding".  We're they the first? Testing the Lynskey Pro29 FS-120 Part 2

Last year in January 2013, I reviewed a Lynskey Pro29 FS- 120 with 650B wheels -  At the time, Cove Bikes evaluating a new design for a 650B bike and a full suspension frame from Lynskey was sent out for review.  The bike - a FS Pro 29 frameset was built up.  The issue Cove had was that with the new thinking of low bottom bracket heights and slack geometry, the FS was modified to fit this thinking.  The bottom bracket height of the FS was close to 15" unweighted.  and Cove decided to put on a 140mm fork and 650B wheels - lowering the bike's overall center of gravity and slacking the angles.  The ride that was produced was a stable but require more steering input into the steering either by leaning or steering into the corners.  I didn't mind the ride but felt uncomfortable when speed started to pick up.  Check out my first review of the bike Testing out cove lynskey 650b-ti Cove ended up sticking with their tried and true hardtail model ( Cove H...

Terrace MTB Riding

So for the last 6 months,  I've been on a project in Terrace, BC and wondered if I should take my bike.  I researched several websites on the trails and lurked Strava rides to gauge what sort of riding is available in Terrace.  A fabulous site was a ride review by Lee Lau from North Vancouver.  http://www.leelau.net/sharonandlee/terrace-mountain-biking-in-july/   Lee put me in the right direction for choosing right path.  As part of my Strava lurking, I came across another Forester that worked in Terrace and rode the Terrace trails regularly. I quickly emailed him and we were setting a time and place to ride!  Ryan met me at the Terrace Mountain Trails system.  The system consists of hiking and mountain bike trails and they are almost all machine made.  Beautiful rock work and berms, kept me thoroughly entertained on our journey up.  Did I mentioned up?  Yes, I guess...
